Platinum Community Care’s mission is to provide a service that will enable people living in the community to remain in their own homes for as long as possible, including people living with dementia.
Monica is a registered Occupational Therapist with more than 25 years- experience, both internationally and in New Zealand, managing facilities for the elderly and working within the community.
Megan has a certificate in healthcare and is a Diversional Therapist with more than 20 years-experience working with the elderly and autistic children.
Megan is also a practiced CST Group Leader, which is a programme for those with early-stage Dementia (including Alzheimer’s Disease) to maximise their cognitive capabilities. It is based on research evidence as the only non-pharmacological intervention shown to maintain mental functioning in people with early to moderate dementia. We incorporate as many of the disciplines of CST into our everyday activities.
Our staff are compassionate, caring and dedicated, trained in dementia and elderly care. We also have Occupational Therapy students from AUT and Otago Universities completing their placements throughout the year.
We work alongside and in partnership with Elderly, Dementia, Stroke and Parkinson’s clients and those with a Traumatic Brain Injury.

Platinum Country Retreat is set on a secluded lifestyle block where sheep, chickens, pigs and large and small horses roam in their paddocks. The tranquil environment helps our clients to stay focussed and participate in the activities throughout the day. The busyness of the world is put to one side while engaging in meaningful and purposeful occupations.
Clients are able to relax and enjoy the views, help feed the animals and socialise. There are a variety of client centred activities on offer throughout the day and much fun is had while we are getting physically and mentally stimulated. Safety versus risk are both considered when it comes to our clients, but enjoyment and participation are top of the list. You name it, I’m sure we’ve tried it – or if not we’ll give it a go.
